Have you ever wondered why memory card specifications are so diverse, transfer speeds differ, and your devices are only compatible with certain cards? How can you choose the right one?

Transcend's SD memory cards include the SDXC/SDHC 700S, featuring the latest UHS-II interface and V90 Video Speed Class; the SDXC/SDHC 500S, crafted of MLC NAND flash memory for reliability and performance; and the SDXC/SDHC 300S, which comes in large capacities up to 480GB.

Transcend's microSD memory cards include the microSDXC/SDHC 500S made of MLC NAND flash memory and conforming to the V30 Video Speed Class standard, making them ideal for action and drone cameras; the microSDXC/SDHC 300S, which is compliant with the new A1 standard for mobile app storage running random read/write of small amounts of data; and the High Endurance microSD card, which has increased durability for write-intensive applications.

Understanding the symbols

The SD Association has defined various Speed Class standards, including Speed Class, UHS Speed Class, and Video Speed Class. The symbols with a number shown on the memory cards indicate minimum writing speed. Speed Class symbols indicated to device and memory card products can help you decide the best combination for reliable recording.

For photography

UHS-I U1 is more than sufficient for still photography, whereas UHS-I U3 is a better choice for burst mode shooting. For the high-speed continuous shooting, go with UHS-II or above. For the best performance, your device must support the same standard to benefit from the increased speeds.

For video

Video Speed Class is defined to answer a demand for high resolution and high quality 4K8K video recording. Memory cards meeting the V30 specifications are good for capturing 4K videos. V60 and V90 specifications are more appropriate for devices supporting 8K video recording.

For device

Transcend offers a series of memory cards tailored made for five different applications, including dash cameras and security cameras requiring intensive rewrite cycles, mobile devices constantly transferring small amounts of random data, action and drone cameras, digital cameras and camcorders, and professional photography and videography.
